The first thing that sets Saudi Arabia apart from most of our main export markets is the frequency: the grid is 60 Hz. In new facilities the three-phase voltage is 230/400 V; 127/220 V can still be found in older buildings. The second is the climate: inland, summer temperatures exceed 45 °C and sand is everywhere; on the Red Sea and Gulf coasts, humidity is added.

60 Hz: catalogue ratings do not apply directly

Our sets can also be built for 60 Hz; however, the power ratings in our catalogue are for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm. At 60 Hz the set runs at 1,800 rpm; the power the engine and alternator will deliver at this speed is determined separately for each set from the data sheets. That is why you should always state the frequency and the site voltage when requesting a quote. Details are in our article on the difference between 50 Hz and 60 Hz.

45 °C and above

In midsummer the same set does not deliver its power under standard conditions: the engine loses power in hot air, and the radiator struggles to reject heat. We ask for the highest temperature on site, choose the radiator for it and move up one rating if needed. We explain the logic of the calculation in power loss with temperature and altitude. On sets installed on a roof or in an enclosed room, the air inlet and outlet paths must be separated so that hot air does not recirculate.

Sand and humidity

Sand fills the air filter quickly. We upgrade the filtration and advise more frequent filter checks. The canopy must keep sand out but still allow enough airflow. In coastal cities such as Jeddah or Dammam, humidity and salt call for surface protection and moisture protection for the alternator and panel.

By type of project

  • Commercial buildings, hotels and hospitals: the generator is a backup; the ATS panel brings the set online by itself during an outage.
  • Critical facilities: several sets run in parallel with a synchronization panel; while one set is in maintenance, the others carry the load.
  • Construction and remote sites: the set runs all day and is selected on prime power. We also offer trailer-mounted generators and light towers.

Shipping, documents and quote

The sets leave Türkiye mostly by sea. Each one passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and other documents are issued on request. Product conformity documents are required for import into Saudi Arabia; we agree with the buyer on which documents are needed at the quotation stage.

For a quote, give us the power or a load list, 60 Hz and the site voltage, standby or prime, the highest temperature on site, the installation location (roof, enclosed room, open area), canopy and panel preference, and the fuel tank. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage and frequency do generators run at in Saudi Arabia?

The Saudi grid is 60 Hz. New facilities use three-phase 230/400 V; 127/220 V can still be found in older buildings. The generator should be ordered for 60 Hz and the site voltage; we confirm these values at the quotation stage.

Do the catalogue power ratings also apply at 60 Hz?

No. The ratings in our catalogue are for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm. At 60 Hz the set runs at 1,800 rpm, and the power it can deliver is determined separately for each set from the engine and alternator data sheets. No fixed multiplier is used.

Why does a generator lose power in the Saudi summer heat?

Hot air is thin; the engine takes in less oxygen and the radiator struggles to reject heat. On a set that will run above 45 °C this loss is significant. We choose the radiator for the highest temperature and move up one rating if needed.
