In Egypt, the environment a generator works in changes by region: heat and sand on desert sites, humidity in the Nile Delta, and salty sea air in Alexandria and on the Red Sea coast. The grid is 50 Hz, 220/380 V everywhere; the 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue match this grid.

Heat and sand

In summer, temperatures in the interior and the south rise above 40 °C. We choose the radiator for the highest temperature on site and move up one rating if needed; we explain the logic in power loss with temperature and altitude. The sandstorms seen in spring fill the air filter quickly. We upgrade the filtration and advise checking the filter and radiator after a storm. The canopy must keep sand out but must not trap hot air inside.

The coast and the delta

In coastal cities and resort areas the sea air is salty; surface protection and the maintenance interval are planned for it. In the Nile Delta humidity is high; on standby sets, alternator and panel heaters prevent condensation.

By type of project

• Hotels and commercial buildings: a soundproof canopy and an ATS panel. The rating is calculated on the load of a summer evening.
• Industrial plants: for large loads, two or more sets run in parallel with a synchronization panel; while one is in maintenance, the others carry the load.
• Agriculture and irrigation, remote sites: the set runs long hours; the selection is made on prime power, and the starting power of the pump motor also goes into the calculation.
• Construction sites: trailer-mounted generators and light towers.

Hospitals and telecom stations are also common places for generators.

Fuel
