Project examples from this country
Oman has two climates that matter for a generator. Inland, summer temperatures above 45 °C are common, and wind carries sand and dust across construction and remote sites. On the coast, from Muscat to Sohar, the heat comes with high humidity; in Dhofar, around Salalah, the summer monsoon (khareef) brings mist and drizzle from June to September. The public supply is 50 Hz, 240/415 V.
Grid: 240/415 V, 50 Hz
Oman uses 240/415 V, which is higher than the 230/400 V common in Europe and Türkiye. The frequency matches the 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue; the alternator is set for a 415/240 V output, and we confirm this with the alternator data in the offer.
Some industrial and oil and gas projects are specified for 60 Hz equipment. For these we quote the 60 Hz / 1,800 rpm version, whose rating comes from the engine and alternator data sheets. More on this in 50 Hz and 60 Hz generators.
Desert heat
The rating printed on a data sheet assumes standard conditions. On a site at 45–50 °C, the engine draws in thinner air and the radiator has a smaller temperature difference to work with. We ask for the highest temperature at the set, choose a radiator for it and, where needed, move up one rating. See power loss with temperature and altitude.
Sand and dust shorten filter life. For remote sites we upgrade the air filtration and recommend more frequent filter checks. The canopy has to keep sand out while still letting enough air through.
Construction and remote sites
On a construction site the generator is often the only source of power, and it runs all day. It is therefore selected on prime power, not standby. The fuel tank is sized from consumption under load and the time between deliveries; a larger base tank or an external tank reduces the number of refuelling trips. For the calculation, see fuel tank sizing. For mobile use we also supply trailer-mounted generators and light towers.
Standby power for buildings
In hospitals, hotels, offices and residential towers the generator backs up the grid. The ATS panel starts the set and transfers the load during an outage. Where the load is large or the supply critical, two or more sets run in parallel with a synchronization panel. On the coast, anti-condensation heaters for the alternator and panel and corrosion-resistant surface protection are recommended.
Engine brand
If the specification names an engine brand, we offer that brand. If it does not, we start with the option that meets the specification at the lowest cost and show the alternatives next to it. For sites that will run near 50 °C, we compare brands at the site temperature, because radiator options differ from model to model. The models and ranges by brand are listed below.
Delivery and documents
Sets leave our factory in Tuzla, Istanbul, and travel to Oman by road (for example Istanbul–Sohar) or by sea to an Omani port: Sohar for the north and Muscat area, Salalah for Dhofar, and Duqm for projects in the central region. Canopy sets are loaded on trucks or in containers, stretch-wrapped with edge protection. The Incoterm is agreed in the offer, and transport is quoted as a separate line.
Each shipment goes with the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and factory test report. Any further conformity documents the importer needs are agreed at the quotation stage. For the other countries in the region, see Gulf countries.

Engine brand options
The same rating can be offered with different engine brands. Catalogue ranges at 50 Hz (standby):
- Perkins: 10–2,500 kVA
- Cummins: 16.5–2,750 kVA
- Baudouin: 20–4,125 kVA
- Volvo Penta: 220–825 kVA
- Economical lines: Quartz (25–400 kVA), Kofo (25–550 kVA) · Kofo and Quartz economical sets
Test documents
Before shipment, every set is full-load tested on a load bank at our facility in Tuzla, with the load applied in steps. The test report records the product, engine and alternator serial numbers, the voltage, frequency and current measured at each load step, the function tests and the electrical safety tests. In the sample report the serial-number fields are blank; the actual report is issued with the numbers and signatures on delivery.

Frequently asked questions
What voltage and frequency do generators run at in Oman?
Oman's public supply is 50 Hz, 240/415 V: 415 V three-phase and 240 V single-phase. Our 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm catalogue ratings apply directly; the alternator is set for a 415/240 V output and the voltage is confirmed with the alternator data in the offer.
How much power does a generator lose in the Omani interior?
It depends on the engine, the radiator and the actual temperature at the set. In the interior, summer temperatures above 45 °C are common, and at that point the loss can no longer be ignored. We ask for the highest temperature on site and select the radiator and rating for it; we do not apply a fixed percentage.
Some projects in Oman ask for 60 Hz. Can you supply that?
Yes. The grid is 50 Hz, but some industrial and oil and gas projects specify 60 Hz equipment, for example 440 V at 60 Hz. For those we quote the 60 Hz / 1,800 rpm version of the set, with its own rating from the engine and alternator data.
How are generators shipped from Türkiye to Oman?
By road (for example Istanbul–Sohar) or by sea, usually to Sohar or Salalah depending on where the site is; Duqm is another option for projects in the central region. Sets are loaded on trucks or in containers, the Incoterm is agreed in the offer and transport is quoted as a separate line.
