How is a generator sized for a factory?
The plant's load list, simultaneity (demand) factor, the starting method of the largest motors and future capacity expansion are assessed together. At high power ratings, several synchronized generators or a medium voltage generator may be the better option.
When is a medium voltage generator the right choice?
If the plant is supplied at medium voltage or the distance between the generator and the load is long, a medium voltage generator reduces cable cross-sections and losses, and can eliminate the need for a transformer.
