Generators that have run for many years or are worn can be made reliable again with a proper overhaul. In our overhaul and refurbishment service, every job starts with a condition assessment; the work to be carried out and its scope are defined on the basis of that assessment.
Scope
- Assessment and reporting of the generator’s overall condition
- Engine overhaul (top-end or major overhaul, depending on the assessment)
- Checking and renewing the alternator, control panel and cable connections
- Refurbishment of existing generators: replacement of worn parts and reconditioning of the cooling and fuel systems
- Canopy renewal: repair or replacement of corroded or damaged canopies
- Start-up and load test after the overhaul
How we work
- Condition assessment: The generator is inspected, measurements are taken and the findings are reported.
- Quotation: The work required, parts needed and alternatives are presented to you in writing.
- Implementation: The overhaul and refurbishment work is carried out with your approval.
- Testing and handover: The generator is tested under load and handed over in working order.

Frequently asked questions
How can I tell whether a generator needs an overhaul?
High running hours, increasing oil or fuel consumption, loss of power, starting difficulties and abnormal noise or smoke may indicate the need for an overhaul. The final decision is made after the generator has been inspected and its condition assessed.
Is an overhaul or a new generator the better option?
This depends on the generator's overall condition, its age, the availability of parts and whether your power requirement has changed. After the condition assessment, both options are clearly presented to you.
Can the canopy be renewed on its own?
Yes. For generators whose engine and alternator are sound but whose canopy has deteriorated due to corrosion or damage, canopy renewal can be assessed separately.
