Project examples from this country
Bahrain is an island: almost every site is close to the sea. Summer temperatures regularly pass 40 °C, and the humidity stays high for much of the year. A generator here has to cope with three things at once: heat, moist air and salt. The public supply is 50 Hz, 230/400 V, the same frequency as the ratings in our catalogue.
Grid: 230/400 V, 50 Hz
The ratings in our catalogue are given for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm, so they apply in Bahrain without conversion. The alternator is connected for a 400/230 V output, and the voltage is confirmed with the alternator data in the offer.
Some imported equipment packages are designed for 60 Hz, and some specifications ask for a set that can be switched between 50 and 60 Hz with a voltage selector. We offer these as options. At 60 Hz the set runs at 1,800 rpm, and its output is taken from the engine and alternator data sheets; see 50 Hz and 60 Hz generators.
Heat and humidity together
Hot air is thin; the engine takes in less oxygen and the radiator rejects less heat. We ask for the highest temperature at the installation point, not the city average, choose the radiator for it and move up one rating if needed. The logic is explained in power loss with temperature and altitude.
Many sets in Bahrain stand on roofs or in plant rooms. There the hot discharge air must not be drawn back into the intake, so the air inlet and outlet paths are separated.
Salt air on every site
On an island, salt is not only a coastal problem. We recommend corrosion-resistant surface protection for the canopy and base frame, and anti-condensation heaters for the alternator and the control panel. A standby set that sits idle in humid air should be run under load at regular intervals so that moisture does not settle in the windings.
Industrial and commercial use
- Commercial buildings, hotels and hospitals: the generator backs up the grid; the ATS panel starts the set and transfers the load during an outage. Selection is made on standby power.
- Industrial plants and workshops: where the set carries production loads for long hours, selection is made on prime power. Larger plants run two or more sets in parallel with a synchronization panel.
- Construction sites and temporary power: prime power, sound-insulated canopy, and on request trailer-mounted generators and light towers.
Engine brand
The requests we receive from Bahrain usually name the engine brand, and often the alternator and controller as well. If your specification names a brand, we offer that brand. If it does not, we put the option that meets the specification at the lowest cost first and list the alternatives next to it. The models and ranges by brand are shown below.
Delivery and documents
Sets leave our factory in Tuzla, Istanbul, and travel to Bahrain by road or by sea; by sea, the usual port is Khalifa Bin Salman Port. The route depends on quantity and set size. Canopy sets are loaded on trucks or in containers, stretch-wrapped with edge protection; loose parts travel in crates or on pallets. The Incoterm is agreed in the offer, and transport is quoted as a separate line.
Each shipment goes with the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and factory test report. Any further conformity documents the importer needs are agreed at the quotation stage. For the other countries in the region, see Gulf countries.

Engine brand options
The same rating can be offered with different engine brands. Catalogue ranges at 50 Hz (standby):
- Perkins: 10–2,500 kVA
- Cummins: 16.5–2,750 kVA
- Baudouin: 20–4,125 kVA
- Volvo Penta: 220–825 kVA
- Economical lines: Quartz (25–400 kVA), Kofo (25–550 kVA) · Kofo and Quartz economical sets
Test documents
Before shipment, every set is full-load tested on a load bank at our facility in Tuzla, with the load applied in steps. The test report records the product, engine and alternator serial numbers, the voltage, frequency and current measured at each load step, the function tests and the electrical safety tests. In the sample report the serial-number fields are blank; the actual report is issued with the numbers and signatures on delivery.

Frequently asked questions
What voltage and frequency should a generator in Bahrain have?
The public supply in Bahrain is 50 Hz, 230/400 V: 400 V three-phase and 230 V single-phase. The 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue apply directly, and the alternator is connected for 400/230 V. We confirm the voltage with the alternator data in the offer.
Can a set for Bahrain be supplied for 60 Hz or switchable 50/60 Hz?
Yes. Some equipment packages specify 60 Hz, or a set that can be switched between 50 and 60 Hz with a voltage selector. These are offered as options; the output at 60 Hz is taken from the engine and alternator data sheets, not from a fixed multiplier.
Standby or prime: which rating should be specified in Bahrain?
Where the generator backs up a building on the public grid, it is selected on its standby rating. On construction sites, temporary power and plants that run the set for long hours every day, it is selected on prime power. We state both ratings in the offer.
How are generators shipped from Türkiye to Bahrain?
By road or by sea; by sea, the usual port is Khalifa Bin Salman Port. The route depends on quantity and set size. Sets are loaded in containers or on trucks; the Incoterm (for example EXW Istanbul) is agreed in the offer and transport is quoted as a separate line. The set travels with the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and factory test report.
