Algeria is the largest country in Africa by area. What you expect from a generator is very different between a hospital backup in Algiers or Oran on the coast and a site deep in the Sahara, hundreds of kilometres from the nearest service point. This page is mostly for the second group.
A checklist for a Sahara site
When we prepare a quote for a remote, hot site, we settle these points one by one:
- Highest ambient temperature. Summer days above 45 °C are normal. The radiator is chosen for it.
- Power loss. At this temperature the engine cannot deliver its nameplate power. If needed, we move up one rating. The logic is in power loss with temperature and altitude.
- Sand. The air filtration is upgraded. We ask you not to stretch the filter inspection interval.
- Canopy. The canopy must keep sand and sun out, but must not keep the heat in. Cleaning the air inlet louvres after a sandstorm is a job of a few minutes.
- Operating mode. If there is no grid, the set is the primary source; the selection is made on prime power.
- Redundancy. Two sets and a synchronization panel keep the site running while one is in maintenance.
Fuel and refuelling
In the Sahara, the most expensive thing is often not the fuel itself but moving it. We choose the tank capacity by consumption and refuelling interval; even if the tanker is a day late, the set must not stop. For a rough calculation, see our fuel tank sizing article.
City projects in the north
In the coastal cities the work is more familiar: hospitals, commercial buildings, industrial plants and construction sites. What matters here is an ATS panel for automatic changeover during an outage, a soundproof canopy in residential areas, and surface protection against salt air. For construction sites we also ship trailer-mounted generators and light towers.
Commissioning on site
The full-load test at the factory verifies the set itself; it does not verify the connection on site. Before commissioning, the phase sequence, cable cross-sections, and the neutral and earthing connections should be checked. On dry, sandy ground the earthing resistance can come out high, so do not skip the measurement. We cover the details in our article on generator earthing. At first start-up, the set should run for a while with the load applied in steps, and the temperature and pressure readings should be recorded.
Grid, shipping, documents
The Algerian grid is 50 Hz, 230/400 V. The ratings in our catalogue are for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm, so the sets match directly.
Generators leave Türkiye usually by sea: open type, canopied or in a container. Every set passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and any other documents the buyer requires are issued on request.
When you ask for a quote, also tell us the site location, the highest temperature and the refuelling interval. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions
What voltage and frequency should a generator in Algeria have?
The Algerian grid is 50 Hz, 230/400 V. The 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue match this grid directly; we confirm the site voltage at the quotation stage.
How is fuel planned for a generator on a remote site?
The set's hourly consumption under load, its daily running time and how often the fuel tanker will come are calculated together. The tank capacity is chosen with a margin so that the set does not stop even if the delivery is late.
Is one generator enough on a site with no grid?
If a single set fails or goes into maintenance, the site loses power. That is why on off-grid sites we recommend running two or more sets in parallel with a synchronization panel; while one is in maintenance, the other carries the load.
