Terex Diesel is a diesel generator manufacturer in Türkiye (Turkey). We build 10–4,125 kVA sets at our 2,000 m² facility in Tuzla, Istanbul, and ship them after a full-load test.
In Uzbekistan, farming depends heavily on irrigation, and irrigation on pumps. In a field where the grid is weak or absent, what runs the pump is often a diesel generator. That is why the key question is usually the same: “Which set can handle this pump?”
Pump starting
The most common mistake in generator selection is to look at the pump’s nameplate power and choose the set by that. On direct-on-line starting, a motor draws several times its rated current. If the set cannot handle that moment, the voltage collapses and the motor cannot start.
That is why, when preparing a quote, we ask for the pump’s power and its starting method: direct-on-line, star-delta, soft starter or drive. The lower the starting load, the smaller the generator needed. Because the pump runs for long hours, the selection is made on prime power. The details are in our article what size generator do I need.
If you run the pump with a frequency drive, tell us that too. The drive lowers the starting current but feeds harmonics back into the supply. Harmonics heat the alternator and distort the voltage waveform. If the drive’s share of the load is large, the alternator may need to be one size up. If several pumps are connected to the same set, having them start one after another rather than together noticeably reduces the generator power needed.
Summer: 40 °C and dust
In summer the temperature goes above 40 °C in many regions and the air is dry. We choose the radiator for the highest temperature on site and upgrade the air filtration against dust. We explain how much power an engine loses in the heat in our article on power loss with temperature and altitude. On sets used in the fields, we advise checking the filters more often.
Winter
In winter the temperature drops below zero. On backup sets, a block (coolant) heater, the right antifreeze and a well-maintained battery make sure the first start works. The canopy protects the set from snow and dust.
Beyond irrigation
Textile and other industrial plants, processing plants, construction projects, backup for hospitals and commercial buildings, and telecom stations. On sets working as mains backup, the ATS panel brings the set online automatically during an outage. In large facilities several sets can run in parallel with a synchronization panel. For construction sites we also ship trailer-mounted generators and light towers.
Grid, shipping, quote
The grid is 50 Hz, 220/380 V. The frequency is the same as in our catalogue; we set the alternator to a 220/380 V output.
The sets leave Türkiye by road, or on routes that combine road and rail. Each one passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are provided; the shipping method, Incoterms and any further documents are agreed in writing at the quotation stage.
For a quote, also give us the power and starting method of the large motors. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions
What voltage and frequency should a generator in Uzbekistan have?
The Uzbek grid is 50 Hz, 220/380 V. The frequency is the same as the 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue; we ship the alternator set to a 220/380 V output.
How is a generator selected for an irrigation pump?
Because the pump runs for long hours, the selection is made on prime power. What really decides it is the start of the pump motor: on direct-on-line starting, the motor draws several times its rated current. Star-delta, a soft starter or a drive reduces this load. We size the generator knowing the starting method.
How is a generator protected in dry, dusty summers?
The radiator is chosen for the highest ambient temperature, the air filtration is upgraded against dust and the filters are checked often. Power loss from heat is also taken into account when choosing the rating.
