The Argentine grid is 50 Hz, so the frequency is the same as in our catalogue. The difference is the voltage: 220/380 V. We set the alternator to this output before shipping; just state the voltage in your quote request. What we really need to talk about is where the site is.

The Andes: altitude

There are sites on the high plateaus of the northwest and in the Andean foothills that operate above 3,000 metres. At this height the air is thin, and the engine cannot deliver its sea-level power. We select the set for the site altitude; sometimes it means moving up one rating. We explain how the calculation is done in power loss with temperature and altitude.

High sites can get very cold at night. A block (coolant) heater and a well-maintained battery make the first start in the morning trouble-free.

Patagonia: cold and wind

In the south, winter is long and the wind is hard. Here the block heater, antifreeze rated for the lowest temperature, and battery care come first. The canopy protects the set from wind-blown dust and snow; the canopy doors must close tightly.

The north and the plains: heat

Summers in the north are hot. We choose the radiator for the highest temperature on site and size the canopy ventilation to match. On the plains, dust rises at harvest time; on farms we advise checking the air filter more often during this period. Don’t let dry grass surround the set either; a hot exhaust and dry vegetation are not a good pair.

Where are they used?

In Argentina, generators are used mostly on farms and livestock operations, for irrigation, in industrial plants, on mining and construction sites, as backup for hospitals and commercial buildings, and at telecom stations. On a farm the grid does not reach, the set is the primary source and is selected on prime power. For mains backup we add an ATS panel, and for large plants a synchronization panel. For construction sites there are also trailer-mounted generators and light towers.

A maintenance plan for a remote site

If the farm or mine is hours from the nearest town, a trip for one filter can cost days. We advise planning the consumables needed for the first services, such as oil, fuel and air filters, together with the set. The service interval depends on running hours; on a set that runs long hours every day, the first service comes sooner than you think on the calendar. Have a look at our maintenance checklist for your site.

The long road

The sets leave Türkiye usually by sea in a container. Each one passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and any other documents the buyer requires are issued on request. For companies that want to assemble in their own country, CKD kits are also an option.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage and frequency do generators run at in Argentina?

The Argentine grid is 50 Hz, 220/380 V. The frequency is the same as the 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue; we ship the alternator set to a 220/380 V output. Just state the voltage in your quote request.

Why does generator power drop at high altitude?

The higher you go, the thinner the air; the engine takes in less oxygen on each cycle and produces less power. On sites above 3,000 metres this loss is significant. We select the set for the site altitude, moving up one rating if needed.

How are generators shipped from Türkiye to Argentina?

Because of the distance, usually by sea in a container. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and any other documents the buyer's country requires are issued on request.
