Pristina lies on a plain at about 600 metres. Winters are cold and snowy, summers hot and dry. Here a generator is wanted mostly for two jobs: primary power on a construction site and backup power in a building. The two have different requirements; we first make clear which one it is.

Backup power in a building

In a hospital, office, shopping centre, hotel or residential complex, the generator comes online when the mains fails. The points we watch here:

  • Automatic changeover: the ATS panel starts the set when the mains fails, transfers the load, and hands it back when the mains returns.
  • Which loads? The whole building, or lighting, lifts, pumps and IT? This decision sets the rating directly.
  • Noise: in residential areas a soundproof canopy is needed.
  • How it is used: a set that runs only during outages can be selected on standby power.

Primary power on a construction site

On a construction site the generator runs all day, and the selection is made on prime power. If portability matters we ship trailer-mounted generators, and for night work light towers. The start of large motors such as tower cranes and concrete pumps decides the rating. For a first estimate you can use our power calculator.

A common mistake on site is to select the generator not by the total load but by adding up the motor ratings on paper, or the opposite, to forget the start of the largest motor. When the tower crane starts, the set struggles, the voltage drops and the other machines stop. If we size it knowing the starting method and which machines will run at the same time, the set is both big enough and not bigger than needed. We explain the logic in our article what size generator do I need.

Winter preparation

On sets that will start on winter mornings, a block (coolant) heater, antifreeze for the lowest temperature, a well-maintained battery and winter-grade fuel make sure the first start works. The canopy air inlet and outlet should be placed so that snow build-up does not affect them. For the summer heat, we choose the radiator for the highest temperature; we explain the effect of altitude and temperature on power in our article on power loss.

Other applications

Industrial and processing plants, telecom stations and farms. In large facilities several sets can run in parallel with a synchronization panel.

Grid, shipping, quote

The grid is 50 Hz, 230/400 V, directly compatible with the 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue.

The sets leave Türkiye usually by road. Each one passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and any other documents the buyer requires are issued on request.

For a quote, give us a load list or the power, whether the set will be backup or the primary source, canopy and panel preference, and the fuel tank. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage and frequency should a generator in Kosovo have?

The grid in Kosovo is 50 Hz, 230/400 V. The 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue match this grid directly; we confirm the site voltage at the quotation stage.

How is the generator rating decided for a commercial building?

First decide which loads the generator will supply: the whole building, or only lighting, lifts, pumps and IT? The selected loads are added up, the start of the largest motor is added, and a safety margin is left. If you send a load list, we do the calculation together.

How are generators shipped from Türkiye to Kosovo?

Usually by road, through the Balkans. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and any other documents the buyer requires are issued on request.
