We export generators to Mexico. The first thing that sets Mexico apart from most of our main export markets is the frequency: the grid is 60 Hz. In low-voltage distribution the three-phase voltage is 127/220 V; 440 V or 480 V is common in industrial facilities. The second is geography: cities on the central plateau are at high altitude, the northern regions have summer heat, and the Gulf and Pacific coasts have a hot and humid climate.
60 Hz: catalogue ratings do not apply directly
Our sets can also be built for 60 Hz; however, the power ratings in our catalogue are for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm. At 60 Hz the set runs at 1,800 rpm; the power the engine and alternator will deliver at this speed is determined separately for each set from the data sheets. That is why you should always state the frequency and the site voltage when requesting a quote. Details are in our article on the difference between 50 Hz and 60 Hz.
Altitude and temperature
Mexico City lies at an altitude of about 2,200 m and Guadalajara at about 1,500 m. As altitude increases, the air becomes thinner, the engine takes in less oxygen and its power falls. In the industrial regions of the north, summer temperatures can exceed 40 °C. We calculate the set’s power for the site altitude and highest temperature, using the values in the engine data sheet, and move up one rating if needed. We explain the logic of the calculation in power loss with temperature and altitude.
On sites on the Gulf and Pacific coasts, humidity and salt call for surface protection and moisture protection for the alternator and panel.
By type of project
- Industrial facilities: Several sets run in parallel with a synchronization panel; while one set is in maintenance, the others carry the load. A voltage of 440 V or 480 V is determined together with the alternator connection and the choice of panel.
- Commercial buildings, hotels and hospitals: The generator is a backup; the ATS panel brings the set online by itself during an outage.
- Construction and remote sites: The set runs all day and is selected on prime power. We also offer trailer-mounted generators and light towers.
Shipping, documents and quote
The sets leave Türkiye by sea, in containers or as break-bulk cargo; inland transport from the port of arrival to the site is planned separately. Each set passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and other documents are issued on request. In Mexico, NOM conformity requirements may apply to the import of some products; we agree with the buyer on which documents are needed at the quotation stage.
For a quote, give us the power or a load list, 60 Hz and the site voltage, standby or prime, the site altitude and highest temperature, the installation location, canopy and panel preference, the fuel tank and the port of arrival. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions
What voltage and frequency do generators run at in Mexico?
The Mexican grid is 60 Hz. Low-voltage distribution uses three-phase 127/220 V; 440 V or 480 V is common in industrial facilities. The generator should be ordered for 60 Hz and the site voltage; we confirm these values at the quotation stage.
Do the catalogue power ratings also apply at 60 Hz?
No. The ratings in our catalogue are for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm. At 60 Hz the set runs at 1,800 rpm, and the power it can deliver is determined separately for each set from the engine and alternator data sheets. No fixed multiplier is used.
Does a generator lose power in high-altitude cities such as Mexico City?
Yes. As altitude increases, the air becomes thinner and the engine takes in less oxygen. Mexico City lies at an altitude of about 2,200 m; at this height the power loss is significant. We calculate the set's power for the site altitude and highest temperature, using the values in the engine data sheet.
