In Tunisia, two very different requests can arrive in the same week: a quiet backup set for a hotel in Hammamet, and a generator that will run all day on an irrigation site in the south. Both connect to a 50 Hz, 230/400 V grid; everything else is completely different.

The hotel on the coast

In hotels, the generator noise must not disturb guests; that is why a soundproof canopy is used in almost every project. The ATS panel starts the set automatically when the mains fails, transfers the load, and returns the load to the mains when it comes back.

When we size the set, we look not at the winter load but at an August evening: all the air conditioners, the kitchen, the lifts, the pool pumps. We also add the start of the largest motor. In large hotels, running two sets in parallel with a synchronization panel instead of one large set is more efficient at low load in winter.

Sea air is salty. Surface protection and the maintenance interval should be planned for it. Placing the set in a corner out of the direct sea wind, behind the building if possible, also slows corrosion.

The site in the south

In the interior and the south, summer heat and dust come first. We choose the radiator for the highest temperature on site and upgrade the air filtration. We explain how much power an engine loses in the heat in our article on power loss. For jobs that run long hours, such as irrigation, the selection is made on prime power; the starting power of the pump motor also goes into the calculation.

Fuel: how many hours should it last?

If a long outage hits a hotel at midnight, refuelling waits until morning. That is why we choose the tank from the set’s hourly consumption under load and the longest outage you expect. A base frame tank may be enough for short outages; if you need longer, an external tank is added. For a rough calculation, see our fuel tank sizing article. On an irrigation site the calculation is different: the set runs every day, and the tank is chosen by the refuelling interval.

Where else?

In Tunisia, generators are also used in industrial and manufacturing plants, hospitals and commercial buildings, telecom stations and on construction sites. For construction sites we also offer trailer-mounted generators and light towers.

Grid and quote

Grid: 50 Hz, 230/400 V. The ratings in our catalogue are for 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm.

For a quote, just tell us: power or a load list, standby or prime, canopied or open type, panel requirements, fuel tank and whether the set will run on the coast or inland.

The sets leave Türkiye mostly by sea. Each one passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice and packing list are prepared; a certificate of origin and other documents are issued on request. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage and frequency do generators run at in Tunisia?

The Tunisian grid is 50 Hz, 230/400 V. The 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue match this grid directly; we confirm the site voltage at the quotation stage.

What matters most when choosing a generator for a hotel?

Three things: noise, automatic changeover and the summer load. A soundproof canopy keeps guests undisturbed, and an ATS panel brings the set online by itself during an outage. The rating should be calculated on the load in midsummer, when all the air conditioners are running.

How is a generator by the sea protected from corrosion?

Corrosion-resistant surface protection, a well-ventilated canopy, a position out of the direct salty wind, and regular maintenance. On the coast, putting off maintenance costs more than it does inland.
