Terex Diesel is a diesel generator manufacturer in Türkiye (Turkey). Sets from 10 to 4,125 kVA are built and full-load tested at our 2,000 m² facility in Tuzla, Istanbul.

In Ukraine, when we are asked about a generator for a hospital, a water pumping station or a heating plant, the first thing we discuss is not kVA but redundancy: what happens if one set stops? In winter this question matters even more. The grid is 50 Hz, 230/400 V, directly compatible with the 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue.

Redundancy first

For a facility that cannot tolerate an outage, we recommend running two or more sets in parallel with a synchronization panel instead of one large set. While one set is in maintenance or has failed, the others carry the critical load (N+1). At low load one of the sets stops, which saves fuel and engine hours.

The ATS panel starts the sets when the mains fails and transfers the load; when the mains returns it hands the load back and stops the sets after a cool-down. No manual intervention is needed.

Long outages: the set is no longer a backup

If outages last days rather than hours, the generator effectively becomes the primary source. Then the selection should be made on prime, not standby power. We enlarge the tank capacity accordingly: hourly consumption × target running time, plus a margin for delayed refuelling. For a rough calculation, see our fuel tank sizing article.

Winter preparation

In an outage on a January morning at −15 °C, the set has to start first time:

  • A block (coolant) heater keeps the engine warm.
  • A battery charger keeps the battery full; battery capacity drops in the cold.
  • The antifreeze is set for the lowest temperature on site, and winter-grade fuel is used.
  • Regular test runs under load bring problems to light before an outage does.

A soundproof canopy protects the set from snow and reduces noise in residential areas.

Together with a UPS

IT, medical equipment and control systems cannot ride through even the few seconds before the generator comes online. For these loads a UPS is placed ahead of the generator: the UPS carries the first seconds, the generator the hours that follow. When the two are used together, the generator must be sized for the UPS input power and charging current. The details are in our article on UPS and generators.

Applications

Hospitals, water and wastewater plants, heating plants, industrial and agricultural operations, commercial buildings, residential complexes, telecom infrastructure and construction sites. For mobile needs we also ship trailer-mounted generators and light towers.

Quote and shipping

For a quote, give us a load list or the power, the redundancy you expect (single set / N+1), the target uninterrupted running time, canopy and panel preference, and the installation location.

The sets leave Türkiye by road or, depending on the project, on routes that combine different modes of transport. Each one passes a full-load test before it leaves the factory. A commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin are provided; the shipping method, Incoterms and any further documents are agreed in writing at the quotation stage. Request a quote.

Frequently asked questions

What voltage and frequency should a generator in Ukraine have?

The Ukrainian grid is 50 Hz, 230/400 V. The 50 Hz / 1,500 rpm ratings in our catalogue match this grid directly; we confirm the site voltage at the quotation stage.

Is one generator enough for a critical facility?

No. If a single set fails or goes into maintenance, the facility is left without power. Running two or more sets in parallel with a synchronization panel (N+1) lets the others carry the critical load while one set is offline.

How is fuel planned for outages lasting days?

The set’s hourly consumption under load is multiplied by the target running time, and a margin is added for days when refuelling may be delayed. If long outages are expected, the set should be selected on prime rather than standby power, because it will now run for days.
